Behavioral Family Solutions, a private agency that provides the highest quality therapeutic services to children and their families in Palm Beach, Broward, and Miami-Dade Counties, will participate in several events this fall. On September 11, they will be participating in the annual Miami-Dade Autism Speaks Walk. They will also be participating in the Autism Speaks Walk in Broward County on September 26. At both Autism Speaks Walk events, you can interact with the community, meet service providers, hear from top supporters and sponsors, and celebrate the diversity of the Autistic community. The event will be held in compliance with CDC guidelines, but if that doesn’t work for you, feel free to go virtual and walk 54 miles with your friends and family (for the 1 in 54 U.S. kids with autism) or get together locally with your team to celebrate while maintaining safe social distancing recommendations! Autism Speaks Walk is the world’s largest autism fundraising event dedicated to improving the lives of people with autism. It’s powered by the love of parents, grandparents, siblings, friends, relatives, and support providers for people with autism. With every step you take and every dollar you raise, you help enhance lives today and accelerate a spectrum of solutions for tomorrow! Behavioral Family Solutions will also be participating in the 41st Annual Florida Association for Behavioral Analysis (FABA) Conference at the JW Marriott Miami Turnberry Resort and Spa in Aventura from September 29 to October 2. FABA was founded in 1980 to promote the use of effective and humane behavior analytic procedures in education, business, industry, government, and clinical settings, including both private and public sectors throughout the State of Florida Association goals include upholding ethical practices, providing high quality continuing education, and promoting research, service, and legislation that supports behavior analysis and practitioners of behavior analysis services. As the organization states on its website, behavior analysis is a rapidly changing field, making it imperative to keep up with this exciting and rewarding profession. FABA meets this objective through its well-respected Annual Three-day Conference and Workshop (held in September) and special topic Winter Meetings. FABA is recognized as a leader in bringing state-of-the-art speakers to our annual meeting to share their latest research and discuss their treatment strategies. Our workshops, seminars, symposia, paper sessions, and invited addresses bring our members face-to-face with experts in behavior analysis in an informal environment conducive to idea exchange. Past invited speakers have included B.F. Skinner, Fred Keller, Sid Bijou, Julie Vargas, Jack Michael, Aubrey Daniels, Gordon Paul, Brian Iwata, Judy Favell, Ivar Lovaas, Richard Foxx, Scott Geller, Nate Azrin, Don Baer, Glenn Latham, and many other prominent behavior analysts. “After the challenges we faced in 2020 due to COVID, we at Behavioral Family Solutions are excited to be back in the community, interacting with people again,” says JC Gonzalez, Executive Director of Business Development. “We encourage everyone to come out to support the Autism Speaks Walk events and attend the FABA Conference, either in person or virtually. We understand that some people may still have concerns about being around large groups of people, so we’re grateful that the organizers are offering a virtual option. We’re proud to show our support for South Florida children and their families and look forward to successful events. If you do plan on attending, please make sure to stop by and say hello! We’d love to meet as many of you as possible!”
